Appointment Info + FAQs

How do I get started?

We start with a free 30-minute phone consultation. This offers an opportunity for us to begin to get to know one another and feel out whether we would be a good fit. I also can answer any questions not answered here.

Please reach out to schedule our initial consultation using the form located on my contact page or via email at emma.peck@mindfulcenter.org.

How will we meet?

I currently see clients both in-person and virtually. My office is located in the Pacific Heights neighborhood of San Francisco at 2220 Fillmore Street. It is easily accessible by multiple Muni lines and there is ample 2hr and metered parking in the neighborhood.

What is your fee?

Please contact me to discuss my current fee.

Initial 30-minute phone consultation is free.

I accept payment via credit/debit card and check.

Do you offer a sliding scale fee?

Yes. I reserve a limited number of sliding scale slots for clients with financial need. At this time, all of my sliding scale slots are allotted, but you can request to be added to a wait-list should one open up.

Do you accept insurance?

I do not accept insurance at this time. Many providers will partially reimburse out-of-network mental health services, and I encourage you to reach out to your insurance company to understand what options might be available to you. I can provide a monthly superbill (itemized receipt of services) upon request.

How do I find out if my insurance provider will reimburse out-of-network?

I recommend reaching out to your provider directly to determine whether and how much they will reimburse out-of-network claims. Here are some questions you might ask:

  • What is my out-of-network coverage for mental health services (specifically for: Type of Service - 50 minutes Psychotherapy; Procedure Code - 90834)?

  • Do I have an out-of-network deductible that must be met before reimbursement begins?

  • Is there a maximum allowable amount for this service? (Some insurance providers cap the maximum fee they will cover. So if, for example, a therapist has a fee of $180 but your provider’s maximum allowable amount is $80, the insurance company will only reimburse for a portion of the maximum allowable amount versus the full fee.)

How long are the sessions and how often do we meet?

Sessions are 50 minutes long, once per week, unless otherwise arranged.

What is your background and approach? What are you credentials?

I am a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist in California with a master’s degree in Integral Counseling Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco, CA.

Interested in working together? Have additional questions? Let’s connect.

Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves, like locked rooms and like books that are now written in a very foreign tongue. Do not now seek the answers, which cannot be given you because you would not be able to live them. And the point is, to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps you will then gradually, without noticing it, live along some distant day into the answer.
